BOSTON: ONE YEAR LATER
"On the anniversary of last year's bombings at the Boston Marathon, this city paused Tuesday to honor those who had been killed and wounded and to demonstrate its defiance and resilience in the face of the attack." Here's what the Boston bombing sites look like today. The healing process continues, as does the daily struggle for survivors. The Boston bombing suspect continues to sit in solitary confinement before his November trial. UKRAINE: AND SO IT BEGINS
"A Ukrainian military operation to wrest control of cities in the east from pro-Russian militants has begun, Ukraine's acting president said Tuesday, as Russia's foreign minister warned use of force could derail international talks on the crisis." [WSJ]

PILOT'S CELL PHONE USED IN PHONE CALL IN MISSING PLANE MYSTERY
"The cell phone of the first officer of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 was on and made contact with a cell tower in Malaysia about the time the plane disappeared from radar, a U.S. official told CNN on Monday." Meanwhile, the submarine sent to search for the missing Malaysian plane was forced to turn back after reaching its depth limitations. And according to The New York Times, China has been doing more harm than good in the investigation. [CNN]

STATESIDE: Parolees' Murder Spree
The department of education is set to make a pretty penny off of raised student loan borrowers' rates. This woman tried to get an 8.5 inch knife hidden in an enchilada through TSA. Two parolees committed a violent rape and murder spree while wearing their GPS locator bracelets. Read the 2014 Pulitzer prize winners. And in response to The Washington Post's expose, Social Security will stop collecting on decades-old debts.
