REPORTS: Sony To Allow Screenings Of 'The Interview' After All

It looks like moviegoers may be able to see "The Interview" after all. According to Tim League, the founder of the Alamo Drafthouse, Sony has authorized theaters to show "The Interview" on Christmas Day.

TheWrap reports that Sony will announce plans to release the film in theaters and on video on demand. The Dallas Morning News confirmed that The Alamo's Dallas location will have shows on sale on Tuesday, and Atlanta's Plaza theater also tweeted that it would have showtimes for "The Interview" available soon.

The drama surrounding "The Interview," the Seth Rogen and James Franco-fronted comedy about the assassination of North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un, began earlier this month when hackers launched a major cyber attack on Sony Pictures in an attempt to stop the release of the film. At first, the group made terrorist threats against theaters that intended to show "The Interview." Then, major chains, Regal, AMC, Cineplex and Cinemark, decided to drop the movie from its theaters. On Dec. 17, Sony pulled "The Interview" completely.

After the studio canceled the Christmas Day release, a representative said that there were "no further release plans for the film." But, on Friday, that final decision seemed unlikely. President Obama called Sony's decision "a mistake," and pressure from the Hollywood community. David Boies, a lawyer for Sony, told "Meet The Press" that the movie "will be distributed."

A representative for Sony was not immediately available to comment.
