Two journalists with Roanoke, Virginia-based news station WDBJ were killed Wednesday in a shooting that took place during a live broadcast.
Reporter Alison Parker and photographer Adam Ward died shortly after the incident, WDBJ general manager Jeff Marks told The Roanoke Times.
Authorities are searching for the suspect.
Footage of the shooting, showing Ward screaming and ducking as gunfire rang out, appeared on Facebook at around 7 a.m.
The station immediately responded to the footage on Twitter, expressing confusion about what had occurred and thanking the public for their support.
Minutes later, they tweeted that law enforcement had arrived on the scene in the community of Moneta.
