South Florida officials called off the search for survivors of the condominium tower collapse, rescuers said their mission was no longer one of rescue, but had shifted to recovery.

Security forces in Haiti were locked in a fierce gun battle with assailants who assassinated President Jovenel Moise at his home overnight. The police had killed four of the "mercenaries" and captured two more, Police General Director Leon Charles said.
