Ujung Kulon National Park

Ujung Kulon National Park (Taman Nasional Ujung Kulon or simply Ujung Kulon) is located at the western-most tip of Java, within Banten province of Indonesia. The national park includes Panaitan Island (Princen Island), and smaller offshore islets Handeuleum and Peucang. 

Krakatau (about 2 hours by fastboat from Ujung Kulon) and Ujung Kulon was declared as World Heritage Site on February 1992. On May 3, 1992 the management of the Krakatau Nature Reserve was transferred to Nature Resource Conservation, Lampung, Sumatra. 

Ujung Kulon is the last refuge of the critically endangered one-horned Javan Rhinoceros (Rhinoceros Sondaicus). The park also protects 57 rare species of plant. The 35 species of mammal include Banteng, Silvery Gibbon, Javan Lutung, Crab-eating Macaque, Leopard, Java Mouse-deer, and Rusa Deer. There are also 72 species of reptiles and amphibians, and 240 species of birds.
